Porky’s
Restaurant, Southbank, London
We were commisioned by the owners and operators of a successful restaurant to develop and realise their concept by creating their second restaurant on London’s Southbank.
The general concept was described as casual dining with simplicity in a fun, vibrant atmosphere. We reflected this in the interior design of the dining room. Into a concrete shell, we introduced exposed reclaimed brickwork walls, cladding and feature bar; reclaimed solid timber floorboards; and reclaimed railway sleepers as shelving and the bar top. In keeping with this industrial aesthetic, we housed electrical cabling in polished, surface mounted metal conduit. The extensive mechanical ventilation and extraction ducting was run in exposed polished stainless steel circular ducts. The lighting was to be provided with Edison cages.
The restaurant’s strong visual branding was reinforced with neon signage utilised as artwork.
